Frequently Asked Questions about Rachel's House

Q: What is Rachel's House?

A: Rachel's House is a medical clinic that provides free and
confidential services to women and men facing unplanned
crisis pregnancies.

Q: What services do you provide?

A: We offer free lab-quality pregnancy tests and high-quality 2D ultrasounds. We also provide peer counseling by trained volunteers who provide non-judgmental and compassionate listening ears. In addition, we may refer clients to other agencies that offer assistance to pregnant women.

Q: What is the purpose of ultrasound?

A. The purpose of providing ultrasound is  1) to confirm pregnancy, 2) to confirm the viability of the pregnancy, and 3) to establish the gestational age of the fetus. Ultrasounds are performed by registered nurses trained in limited obstetrical ultrasound under the direction of a licensed medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.

Q: Do you try to talk people out of having abortions?

A. We provide each client with complete and accurate information concerning the development of the fetus, abortion, complications of abortion, alternatives to abortion, and services that are available to her. She will then be able to make an informed decision concerning her life and her future, as well as that of her unborn child. We do not refer for abortion. We do not use guilt, coercion, or manipulation to influence a woman's decision.

Q: Do you provide prenatal care?

A: No. Once the doctor reads a client's scan and the nurse has reported the results to the client, the doctor-client relationship ends. Rachel's House will then refer the client to an obstetrician for prenatal care.

Q: Do you provide accomodations for expecting mothers?

A: No. We are not a maternity home, but we can refer mothers with this need to a facility in our area.

Q: What type of organization are you?

A: We are a faith-based, independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation funded solely by private contributions.

Q: Who is Rachel?

A: Our name was inspired by Jeremiah 31:15-17.
